The Day We Said Yes to Great Wolf Lodge (Without Booking a Room)
Summer is officially here in Atlanta and I have been planning a mixture of indoor and outdoor activities. With the heat increasing, my crew has been asking primarily to get to the pools!
We have done lots of splash pads and our community pool but it gets to be redundant. So I looked into day passes and memberships around town and one of my favorites was the Great Wolf Lodge Day Pass! We love going for overnight stays and anytime we visit the LaGrange GA location all they really want is the pool, MagiQuest, and the dance party!
We have a GWL Season Pass as part of the GWL Parent Pack and it has been one of the best investments for our summer. But I also wanted to share the day pass experience for families who want to try it before committing to a full season pass. So many activities for the whole family and of course all day access to the water park. Howls!
This was a great option especially when you talk affordability. It provided a similar experience to an overnight stay at a fraction of the cost. A few things do require add-ons that you would typically find with a full stay, like MagiQuest, Adventure Park access, the arcade, bowling, and Build a Bear. Those are purchased separately. But when it comes to activities throughout the day, the pools, and the water park you will find great value in this option. You also have access to all food options on the property.
I love all under one roof entertainment for our family and if you do too, here are some things that might be helpful in determining if a GWL Day Pass is worth it for your family too.
Season Pass vs Day Pass: Which is Right For Your Family?
Great Wolf Lodge now offers both options so families can choose what works best for them:
πΎ Day Pass starting from $50 per person
πΎ Limited Season Pass valid Monday through Friday from $90 per person
πΎ Unlimited Season Pass valid any day no blackout dates starting at $300 per person
Season passes are valid May 1 through August 31 2026. The season pass pays for itself in just a few visits

What We Did All Day: Our Honest Experience
When we arrived we headed straight to the front desk to check in. Just a heads up, the day pass does not work at the kiosk so plan to check in with a team member. It was quick and easy though. They asked for our reservation number, handed us our wristbands, and gave us the schedule for the day. Easy breezy.
First stop? The gift shop, of course! We grabbed our wolf ears and browsed the merchandise. They had the cutest summer colors and some really fun new toys and clothes. If you have kids who love a good souvenir moment budget a little extra for this stop because they will find something they cannot live without.
From there we headed straight to the water park and honestly we did not leave for hours. The kids were in their element. There was hula hooping, a pool party inside and outside, and just pure chaotic family joy everywhere you looked. This is where the souvenir refillable bottles really saved us. We used them constantly and did not have to worry about buying drinks every hour for five people.
When we finally peeled ourselves away from the water we headed to the family games happening in the lobby. And then something really sweet happened. On our way to grab food from Buckets a kind family who was heading home offered us their Adventure Pass tickets to use since they would not need them. We gladly accepted! Just know that the Adventure Pass is additional pricing outside of the day pass but it was such a fun bonus when it landed in our laps.
We squeezed in some arcade games using old credits we still had on our card from a previous visit. Check your card balance before you go because you might have credits waiting for you!
We ended the night the way we always do at GWL, the dance party. I’m telling you, this is always a highlight! The team keeps up with the routines and the energy in that lobby is everything. We were dancing, the kids were learning the moves, and everyone was just happy.
By the time we walked out it was close to 10 PM. We loaded up the car for our hour and a half drive home with three tired happy kids and zero regrets. That is the Great Wolf Lodge day pass experience in a nutshell.
Money Saving Tips Nobody Told Me About
This is the section you are going to want to save. These tips made a real difference for our family of five.
π‘ TIP 1: Get the GWL Souvenir Bottles
This is the single best purchase we made all day. The Great Wolf Lodge souvenir bottles come with free refills for the entire visit. For a family of five in a water park all day, this saved us so much money on drinks alone. Grab one for each person or share between kids.
π‘ TIP 2: Book Online in Advance
Day passes sell out, especially on weekends. Book online to guarantee your spot and sometimes find lower pricing than walk-up rates.
π‘ TIP 3: Towels Are Provided
Complimentary towels are included with your day pass. Leave yours at home and pack light!
π‘ TIP 4: Arrive Early
The water park opens at 10 AM. Being there right at opening means shorter lines on the popular slides before the crowds build up.
π‘ TIP 5: Eat Before You Arrive
Dining inside is available but sold separately and can add up quickly for a large family. Eating a solid breakfast before you arrive means you can hold off on a midday meal and just grab a snack.
π‘ TIP 6: Kids 2 and Under Are Free
No day pass needed for your littlest ones. Golden got in at no extra cost which was a nice bonus for our family.
π‘ TIP 7: Budget for Parking
Self-parking runs about $19 per day. Factor that into your budget before you go so it does not catch you off guard at the entrance.
π‘ TIP 8: Use the Bundle Code for Up to 15% Off
Book a full day pass and get bundled access to attractions with up to 15% off. Use code WPBUNDLE at checkout. Valid through December 31, 2026.
π‘ TIP 9: First Responders and Military Save Too
If you or your spouse is a first responder or military member GWL offers a Heroes Day Pass with up to 15% off. Use code WPHEROES at checkout. Valid June 15, 2026 through January 1, 2027.
π‘ TIP 10: Check Your Arcade Card Balance
If you have visited before check your arcade card. You may have leftover credits that extend your fun without spending extra!
Summer Camp In: What Is It and Is It Worth Staying For?

One thing we did not fully expect was how much was going on outside of the water park. Great Wolf Lodge runs a full Summer Camp In program throughout the day with a packed schedule of free activities included with your day pass.
Here is a sample of what the schedule looked like during our visit:
- 7:00 AM β Wake Up with the GW Pack Movie (Lobby Screen)
- 8:30 AM β Meet The Great Wolf Pack (Lobby)
- 9:00 AM β Yoga Tails (Lobby)
- 10:00 AM β MagiQuest Ceremony (Lobby)
- 11:00 AM β Summer Camp In Arts and Crafts (Lobby)
- 1:00 PM β Summer Camp In Arts and Crafts (Lobby)
- 2:00 PM β Summer Camp In Bingo (Lobby)
- 4:15 PM β Pool Party (Outside Pool)
- 6:00 PM β Summer Camp In Jamboree (Lobby)
- 6:15 PM β Family Games (Lobby)
- 7:00 PM β Adventures of the GW Pack (Lobby)
- 8:00 PM β Summer Camp In Family Dance Party (Lobby)
The dance party alone is worth staying for. The kids went absolutely wild and it was one of our favorite moments of the entire day.

Is the Great Wolf Lodge Day Pass Worth the Drive from Atlanta?
VERDICT: YES. A thousand times yes.
Y’all, one hour from Atlanta. No overnight required. 84 degree water park year round so the weather outside literally does not matter. Free activities ALL day long. Complimentary towels. Free WiFi. And kids 2 and under get in free.
For a summer day when you need somewhere to GO with your family and you do not want to pack for an overnight trip, this is one of the best options within driving distance of Atlanta. Period.
Yes you can spend more on the extras like MagiQuest and the adventure pass. But the day pass alone gave our family of five a FULL day of joy. We came prepared, we grabbed the souvenir bottles, we stayed until the dance party, and we drove home happy.
